What’s Open for Travel – September 22nd The latest on where Americans can travel


With more and more countries slowly opening their borders to welcome U.S. travelers, this weekly update will keep you informed with the latest travel details.


The list of international travel destinations you can safely travel to without major restrictions is ever-changing, therefore we recommend that all of our outbound U.S. passengers should check with the U.S. Embassy and their preferred airline before finalizing their travel plans. 


Here are all the countries that are open or have scheduled upcoming openings to U.S. & Canadian travelers. We will not highlight countries that have extensive restrictions including 14-day quarantine.

  • Albania: COVID test is not required to enter the country

  • Croatia: Arrivals must provide proof of accommodation and negative PCR tests taken 48 hours prior. Montenegro/Bosnia & Herzegovina/Macedonia remain closed

  • Dubai: Dubai borders have opened to all travelers. Remaining U.A.E borders remain closed

  • Ecuador: Open to all international travelers with proof of negative COVID test within 10 days, no quarantine. The Galápagos Islands are also open but with proof of negative COVID test within 4 days, mandatory health insurance and health declaration needed

  • Egypt: Phased reopening as of July 1 including the Red Sea, South Sinai, Marsa Matrouh, Cairo, Giza, Aswan, Luxor, Port Said & Mansoura. Limited attractions/hotels operating with government-issued Health & Safety certificate. Passengers must identify Egyptian cities being visited, submit a fresh PCR test 48 hours before the flight. Cruise operations are still closed.

  • Ghana: Negative PCR test required within 72 hours of scheduled departure from origin. Face coverings mandatory in public.

  • Kenya: Kenya is now open to international travel however restrictions are still being confirmed. Passengers are permitted to enter with a negative PCR-based COVID-19 test conducted within 96 hours of arrival.

  • Rwanda: Rwanda restarted international flights on Aug 1st

  • Tahiti: Travel restrictions have been lifted

  • Tanzania: Open to international travel, Mt Kilimanjaro open with precautions. Kenya borders closed to the U.S. until further notice

  • Turkey: Borders open to all travelers with temperature check upon arrival

Upcoming

  • Costa Rica: Opens to California October 1st, making that the 17th U.S. State allowed entry. Strict insurance requirements for entry. Restrictions to be confirmed. For Canadian travelers, temperature checks are required at the airport. No PCR test needed. Face coverings required in public.

In addition to the above list, here are the latest countries that are open or have scheduled upcoming openings to Canadian travelers only.

  • Denmark: Gradually, Denmark's borders are opened for travelers from countries that meet certain criteria, including a certain number of COVID patients per capita.

  • France: Temperature check at the airport. No PCR test needed. Face coverings required in public.

  • Germany: Temperature check at the airport. No PCR test needed. Face coverings required in public.

  • Holland: Temperature check at the airport. No PCR test needed. Face coverings required in public.

  • Iceland: Tighter restrictions as of late August, all arriving passengers can choose between a 14-day quarantine or a double testing procedure along with quarantine for 5-6 days. Arriving passengers must also go through two PCR tests: one upon arrival & another 5-6 days later. During this period, all arriving passengers must stay in quarantine. Those who test negative in the second PCR-test are no longer required to take special precautions.

  • Malta: Temperature check at the airport. No PCR test needed. Face coverings required in public.

  • Monaco: No PCR test needed. Face coverings recommended in public.

  • Portugal: Temperature check at the airport. No PCR test needed. Face coverings required in public.

  • Spain: Temperature check at the airport. No PCR test needed. Face coverings required in public.

  • Switzerland: Temperature check at the airport. No PCR test needed unless the destinations are the archipelagos of Madeira or the Azores. Face coverings required in public.

  • Jordan: Negative PCR from within 72 hours upon arrival// PCR test upon arrival w three hour wait time// medical insurance that covers COVID.

  • Seychelles: No PCR test needed. Face coverings recommended in public.

Upcoming:

  • Finland: Set to re-open to Canadian clients only on September 18th, 2020. More details to be provided.
